BIOGRAPHY

David Farer is a jazz musician and environmental lawyer who lives in New York City with his wife Elisa King, a modern dancer, educator and choreographer. David performs on alto and soprano saxophones.

David released his first album – Netanya's Dream – in June 2017. Comprised of eight of his own compositions, Netanya's Dream  features the David Farer Quartet:  Armen Donelian on piano, Tony Romano on guitar, Josh Paris on bass, and David on saxophone. The album is available on CD, and the album and individual tracks are available through an array of download and streaming services including Amazon, Apple Music (mastered for iTunes) and Spotify.  See direct links on the Music page.

 

David's second release -- 3 Reflections -- a duo collaboration with Roland Valliere on handpans, was released in March 2024 and is available wherever you stream music.  See the Music page for direct links.

 

David performs in and around New York and Cape Cod, most regularly at The Society of IIlustrators on East 63rd St. in NYC and at Branches Cafe in Chatham, MA. (See the Gallery tab.)   See the Performances & News pages for his 2024 schedule.

 

David also continues his long career in the field of environmental law, where he has been a leading practitioner and teacher. He is a Past President of the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL). He has also been involved since 2016 in pro bono activities in Cuba. He spoke at an  International Convention on Environment and Development in Havana in 2017, facilitated ACOEL's first agreement with a Cuban foundation in 2019, co-moderated an international webinar on U.S.-Cuba environmental cooperation presented by Columbia University in 2021, and . co-chaired a 2023 Cuba-U.S. environmental symposium in Havana.
